Norah turned 13 months last week. She continues to change, grow, learn new things, and definitely keeps us on our toes.
Sleeping: Norah went from taking 30 - 45 minute naps to napping 1.5 - 2 hours at a time! I'm not sure what caused this change. It's nice that she naps longer now, but it has also messed up her bedtime I think. Or, maybe it is just coincidence in timing. We used to put Norah to bed around 7, and once we turned off the light she put her head down, and after 5 minutes of bouncing we'd put her in the crib. Now, she fights bedtime, and we end up just putting her in the crib. She usually cries for a few minutes and then just goes to sleep so it's fine, but definitely a change.
Eating/Drinking: Norah is working on drinking from a regular cup, and using utensils. She prefers that I just feed her using the spoon (or using her hands), but she can take the spoon and put it in her mouth too.
Walking: Norah is walking about 90% of the time now. She loves to walk now, and she is gaining her balance. She still falls every once in awhile, and sometimes she pauses when she walks onto a different surface, but she loves to walk. This may have something to do with the change in her bedtime routine. We used to read books on the double bed in her room, and now she just wants to walk around.
Other things she likes/can do:
- She holds the cell phone, or anything that looks like a cell phone, up to her ear now. Super cute.
- She loves riding her dinosaur she got for her birthday. For awhile she didn't touch it much, and then we put her on there one night, and when we took her off she started fussing and crying. We put her on, and then took her off, and again she started crying. Now, she likes to ride the dinosaur often.
- She still likes light switches, but now also likes door knobs too. She lives to unlock the front door, and just pull on door knobs to open doors
- She likes to page through all of her books very quickly. It's more about her turning the pages than reading the books, but she does like specific books. Put on Your Shoes, Curious George, and Bee-Bim Bop are her favorites right now.
- She can hold onto the basketball and put it in the hoop!
- She loves to unload drawers, baskets, etc.
