Dressed Up for a Wedding

We went to a wedding this past weekend in Harrisburg so Norah got a pretty dress to wear and some shoes to match.  It was her first time wearing shoes.  Anyway, I wanted to try and get a nice picture of her in her dress so I sat her on the bed, but she just wanted to move around and stick out her tongue.  I guess she wouldn't be a very good baby model!  haha.  In the end, I had her stand up so we could get a proper picture.

She did very well at the wedding and made it through a Catholic mass without crying or talking when you're not supposed to.  We fed her at the beginning of mass, then she played with the boy sitting behind us, and eventually fell asleep around the gospel/homily.  She didn't want to nap after the ceremony, but fell asleep during cocktails.  After that she was her usual smiley self for everyone until around 8 PM when she got really tired so we took her back and put her to bed.

Here is the series of pictures of us trying to get a picture of her.

Sitting Up and Silly Faces

Norah is working on sitting up straight and balancing.  She can sit up, but after awhile she usually falls to one side and maneuvers back onto her belly.  This day she was sitting and I caught some funny faces before she fell over.

Six Months Old

Norah turned 6 months on July 8th.  We didn't even post a 5 month post because we took her picture so late so here are some of her recent developments in the past 2 months:

  • Sitting Up:  Norah can hold herself up in a sitting position now, but she is still working on balancing.  She usually falls over at some point if she turns/twists too quickly and ends back up on her belly.  She is getting better though!
  • Motor Skills:  Norah is grabbing things confidently now.  She likes to grab onto hair, our faces, and anything in front of her.  She'll wave her toys around with her left arm, and slap things with her left hand.
  • Crawling/Standing:  I think Norah really wants to crawl, and she's getting quite close.  She has very strong legs that she gets underneath her and pushes, but she either face plants or just goes back onto her belly.  She also loves for us to hold her up so she can stand up.  She really likes to stand on our laps.
  • Eating:  Norah is still primarily drinking breast milk, but has been introduced to formula now.  She has had her first solid foods as well.  We started with avocado, and she's tried green beans, sweet potato, banana, applesauce, and carrots so far.  We're starting to add spices to her food as well.  She has also just recently started to hold onto the bottle.  She doesn't hold it up herself quite yet, but it's definitely an improvement in that direction.
  • Talking/Laughing:  Norah has definitely found her voice.  She makes a lot of noise, and has found her high pitched squeal as well.  Luckily, we don't hear it that often.  She also has what we call her "tired talk."  Right before bed she does this calm chatter and then she just falls asleep.  She has always been quite smiley, but now we can make her laugh all the time as well which is fun for us.
